# Google Business Profile verification help

A Business Profile can be visible on Google Maps and still be locked. Until it's verified, nobody can correct the phone number, the hours, or the category, whether they're the owner or a manager. I work on the profiles stuck at that gate: video verifications that keep failing, listings with no reachable owner, and service-area businesses Google keeps asking to prove themselves.

## The cases I take
- **Failed video verification.** The video was rejected, sometimes more than once, and the dashboard offers no explanation.
- **Visible but unverified.** The listing shows in public with wrong or outdated details, and every edit is blocked until verification succeeds.
- **Owner unknown or gone.** A former employee, an old agency, or a founder's personal account owns the profile, and nobody current has owner access.
- **Service-area doubts.** A business that travels to customers, with a hidden address, a home office, or a vehicle as its main proof of existence.
- **Re-verification after changes.** A name change, a move, or a category change triggered a new verification request.

## How I work a case

First I find out who holds which access, what the profile shows in public, what the dashboard asks for, and what has already been tried. Then I check the profile against Google's guidelines, because a verification attempt on a profile that breaks a rule, such as keywords in the name or a mailbox for an address, tends to fail no matter how good the video is. Those get fixed first.

For video verification, I plan the recording with you: what to show, in what order, and what proof of management to have in hand, such as keys to the premises, equipment with the business name, or business documents. My [video verification guide](https://christopherabraham.com/guides/gbp-video-verification/) lays out the method. If the business serves customers away from its base, the [service-area business guide](https://christopherabraham.com/guides/service-area-business/) covers the address and service-area setup that should be in place first.

## Ownership problems

When the owner is unreachable, Google has a process for requesting ownership. It works best with documents that tie the requester to the business and a clear, honest account of what happened. I help put that request together and keep a record of each step, because these requests can take weeks and the details get lost.

## Who decides

Google makes the verification decision, on its own schedule, and its support team can't be hurried. I sell the diagnosis, the preparation, and the persistence, and the fee covers that work whatever Google decides. A related case, a suspended profile restored on appeal, is in the [profile reinstatement case study](https://christopherabraham.com/case-studies/profile-reinstated/).

## What I'll need from you

Manager or owner access if anyone has it, the business registration and a recent utility bill or lease, photos of signage or vehicles, the history of earlier attempts, and an hour on a call to plan the next one.

## How it's delivered

A written diagnostic first, quoted as a fixed fee. The remedy is then scoped and quoted the same way before work begins, so the price of the whole case is known up front. Suspensions and broader local work sit under [local SEO and Google Business Profile](https://christopherabraham.com/services/local-seo/). Every engagement starts with a conversation about your site and what you need. Pick whichever route suits you.
