Indexing audit
Your pages exist, Google knows about them, and most of them are not in the index. An indexing audit finds out why. It is a comprehensive technical diagnosis of a site Google crawls but will not index, delivered as causes with evidence and a fix list in priority order. The price is a flat $750, invoiced in advance.
Who it's for
- Sites where Search Console shows hundreds or thousands of pages in "Crawled, currently not indexed" or "Discovered, currently not indexed."
- Programmatic sites that published pages at scale and watched Google accept only a fraction of them.
- Sites that lost indexed pages after a migration, redesign, or template change.
- Owners who have been told to just wait, and want a verdict instead.
What the audit covers
A full crawl
I crawl the entire site with Screaming Frog, in text and rendered modes, and reconcile the crawl against your sitemaps and the URLs Search Console knows. Every page falls into a bucket: indexed, blocked, declined, or unreachable, and the buckets are grouped by template so the patterns are visible.
Search Console and Bing diagnosis
I read the Page indexing report reason by reason, inspect live examples from each cluster with URL Inspection, and run the same check in Bing Webmaster Tools. Where the two engines disagree, the disagreement itself is evidence, because they render pages and apply robots rules differently.
Robots, sitemap, and internal linking review
The robots.txt file, meta robots tags, and X-Robots-Tag headers, checked for rules that fence off pages or resources by accident. The sitemap, checked for dead, redirected, and noncanonical URLs. Internal linking, checked for orphan pages, excessive click depth, and important pages reachable only through scripted navigation.
Backlink audit
I sample the referring domains pointing at the site and separate genuine links from spam and link schemes. If the profile is dense with manipulative links, I prepare a disavow file ready to upload. If the links are ordinary noise Google already ignores, the report says so and you spend nothing fixing them.
Structure for AI search
Indexed pages are the raw material AI answer engines cite, so the audit also covers how the pages are built: schema and structured data, content chunked into answerable sections, and real differentiation between pages that share a template, so each page gives an answer engine something quotable.
What you receive
- A findings report: which pages are blocked, which are declined, the mechanism behind each group, and the evidence for every claim.
- A prioritized fix list, in the order the fixes should ship.
- Copy and paste examples for the fixes that have a form: corrected titles, meta descriptions, robots rules, canonical tags, and template wording.
- A disavow file, if the backlink audit warrants one.
- A plain statement of which pages should not be indexed at all, and what to do with them instead.
Price and how it starts
The audit is $750 flat. I invoice in advance through Harvest, and work begins when the invoice is paid and access is in place. I need access to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and any history you can give me: migrations, redesigns, when the indexed count moved, any links you bought. Most audits are delivered within days of access, and the findings hold up on a walkthrough call if you want one.
What it does not include
Implementing the fixes is separate work. Some clients hand the fix list to their own developer; others hire me to make the changes and verify them, which is covered under indexing repair and my broader technical SEO audit work. The audit stands on its own either way: you keep the report, the fix list, and the examples regardless of who does the implementation.
